Time and time again, I use to wake up and ask myself…”what in the world am I going to do with this hair?” For every day of my life before that, I am pretty positive my mom asked herself the same damn question. Luckily, I’ve only really had to deal with my own hair for half of my life. Haha!
Attempting to figure out how to style my hair nicely is probably biggest 3rd world dilemma that has haunted me throughout high school and surprisingly continued until…well…today. It was until I was introduced to the bun that I truly found a sweet spot when it came to dealing with my hair. Honestly, I think other people are just as fascinated with these locs as I am. Me, of course more interested in keeping it at least a little bit contained, and strategically planning how to avoid putting anything on or over my head…Ha! Sure I get the odd questions like “Can I touch it?”…”What are you mixed with?”… and for those who don’t see me on a regular basis, “What does your hair look like out of that BUN?” But, honestly I can’t blame people for being a bit curious with what’s going on with my hair. I wake up everyday just hoping I don’t find any new surprises like infamous dread locks, and that rebellious strand of curls that just doesn’t want to participate.
Nonetheless, I have been blessed with this massive ball of restless curls that sits atop of my head on a usual basis. It is my hero, my love, contains all of my wit and charm, has a love/hate relationship with my boyfriend, and most likely will be apart of my life forever and ever.
